Termidor Treatment for Termites

What are Termites

Termites are commonly mistaken for White Ants but they are more closely related to the cockroach. Termites look like a White Ant but as you know White Ants eat timber, which is why we find them eating our lovely home. Termites will travel through underground tunnels which they build themselves always foraging for new timber source in and around our yard. Unfortunately our biggest investment (our home) has plenty of timber.

Termites will most often work concealed looking for any timber source. Termites will travel upto 200 metres from their nest to feast on you home. When Termites have found a small crack or join in the mortar usually below the soil line they will drop their pheromones in their tunnel which tells all the other Termites we have found lots and lots of new timber. This is why if termites have been there for awhile you could have literally hundreds or thousands in your home. So please act now if you think you have spotted Termite Activity.

Do I Need a Termite Barrier

If  the home owner has unfortunately found Termites in their home, they ask themselves  ”Do I really need a Chemical Barrier“  Unfortunately the answere is YES. The reason behind this is your house has Subterranean Termite Leads leading directly to your house, and to protect your investment from further Termite Attacks. At Conquer Termites South Central we always recommend to conduct our full Termite Inspection using some of our wonderful tools of the trade like the Knocker, Moisture Meter and our latest technology Thermal Imaging Camera because Termites could be concealed in other areas of your house which you don’t even know and our Experienced Technician will definitely find them. If you also own your own home and don’t have a Current Chemical Treatment around your house, your are just playing the waiting game for Termites.

What is Involved in a Termite Barrier

Alot of home owners do not know what is involved in installing a Chemical Treatment or Termite Barrier. Some people think we just spray the house for Termites. Guess again. A full Chemical Treatment can be a labour intensive job (trust me i know i have installed over 300 Chemical Treatments). If  your house has soil against the house our Technicians will dig a trench 80mm below the top of the footings then apply Termidor to the trench. As we back fill the trench we apply layers and layers of Termidor. Basically the soil in the trench must be completely saturated. If you house has cement against the house we need to drill 12mm holes through the cement  and inject 2 litres of Termidor into every hole. This is so the Termidor liquid overlaps every hole. The great news for the home owner is that Termidor last upto 8 years. This means your house is protected against Subterranean Termite Attack for quite a long time.
