Termite Inspection using Thermal Camera finds huge nest in Drewvale

Just last week a customer called Conquer Termites South Central in a panic! He was worried he had found termite mudding coming out of a window in the bathroom of his Drewvale property. Luckily we were able to shuffle around some not so urgent jobs and get out to the house that day.

After an initial check we confirmed that it was indeed termites creating the mud and eating through the window surrounds. We then carried out our full termite inspection using our Moisture Meter, Tapper, Termatrac and Thermal Imaging Camera – a very thorough inspection (see our video here for more information) which can take up to 1.5 hours on a 3-4 bedroom home.

After a thorough inspection to the external areas of the house we couldn’t locate any entry points however once we moved inside and used the Termatrac, Moisture Meter and Thermal Imaging Camera throughout the wet areas we were able to find a huge amount of movement near the toilet penetration. This was the entry point we were after and in this instance if we hadn’t had the right equipment for the job, this termite activity may not have been found. Check out the massive nest on the Thermal Image above – you can see the orange zone indicating heat or in this case termite activity.
